Safety

Safety depends on the whole robot and the people around it: mechanical design, electrical protection, software behavior, operating procedure, and team communication.

Core principles

  • Know who can enable and who can call a stop.
  • Treat stored pneumatic, elastic, gravitational, and rotational energy as active hazards.
  • Test new motion at conservative limits and within a controlled area.
  • Make faults visible and choose safe behavior when information is missing.
  • Never depend on software as the only protection against physical injury.

Stop when uncertain

If the robot's state, energy, or enable path is unclear, stop and make the system safe before continuing diagnosis.
